THE HONOURABLE MICHELLE BENJAMIN BEGINS OFFICIAL DUTIES AS MINISTER OF CULTURE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Honourable Michelle Benjamin officially began her tenure today, May 5, 2025 as the Minister of Culture and Community Development, marking her first day at the Ministry’s Head Office at Tower C, International Waterfront Complex, 1A Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.

Minister Benjamin who was accompanied by Dr. Narindra Roopnarine, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Community Development, met with Mr. Videsh Maharaj, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Mr. Martel Waldron, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ms. Florette Clarke, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) from Community Development, Ministry officials, and members of staff.

During the introductory meeting, Minister Benjamin expressed her enthusiasm to begin this new chapter of public service and affirmed her commitment to working collaboratively with the Ministry’s stakeholders to deliver meaningful results.

She shared her excitement about the opportunities ahead and noted her intention to advance initiatives that preserve cultural heritage, empower communities, and enhance the Ministry’s impact across Trinidad and Tobago.

The executive and staff at the Ministry look forward to supporting Minister Benjamin in the successful fulfillment of her mandate.
